Trip Report 5-7-06
With the memory of yesterdays great trip fresh in our minds, we prepared for another great day of diving. Today the crew was joined by Doc. Tom and his buddy, James Zimmerman. While we were light on passengers, we could not let a primo day go unused. We loaded up our small group and headed out to the wreck of the Pinta. Captain Steve, got us there on calm seas in record time.
Again the surface vis looked good as the ball went in. Mate John McErlain jumped in to complete the tie. After a short while the call “bags up!!” was heard on deck. Captain Steve took a potty break as I maneuvered the boat to retrieve the bag and catch the ball. Within a few minutes we were ready to put divers in the water. One by one they splashed in to the cobalt ocean. The boat rocked gently in 2 Ft. Seas as I heated up lunch. Nothing fancy today, just Captain Zero’s Frank & beans.
As the divers returned to the surface we got reports of 15Ft. Vis with several nice bugs spotted, but not recovered. There seemed to be a lot of fish on the wreck also. After being fortified with hot soup, some of the divers took a short siesta in the warm sun. The seas while mild, got even nicer as the day progressed. Eventually the divers roused themselves for a second dive. Once they were all back on board G went in to pull the hook. I gave Steve a break and sailed us back in to great kills on a flat green sea.
Please be patient with us as we haul the boat for a few weeks to do some routine maintenance. When we return to the water in late may we will be featuring a trip to the Stolt D Galley off the New Jersey coast. Check our schedule for up coming trips including wrecks off of North Carolina. Call for details.
