Trip Report 9-2-06
After last weeks three day blow out, we were anxious to hit the water. The Forecast for Fri was awsome 1-2 Ft. We were scheduled for an intermediate inshore dive with Treasure cove.
At 7 Am we set sail from Cape May NJ. for the wreck of the Red Oak, a Bouy Tender, in 80 Ft. of water. The big Cats made the 8 miles to the wreck fly by. Captain Terry umped in to set the hook. With the calm seas, we were able to do a stern anchor. In groups of two or three all the divers suited up, and dove in. They were greeted by warm water and 20 Ft. of vis. This made it easy to navigate the wreck. The wreck was relatively small, but intact, sitting upright on the bottom. After completing their dives, the divers made thier way back up the anchor line. The forecasters were right, and the flat seas stayed with us all day.
After a nice lunch in the warm sun, the divers returned to the water for a second dive. Terry went in & terrorized the fish population, managing to bag a few in the process. At the end of his dive Terry pulled the hook & set us free. We sailed back on calm seas. Another great day of diving lake Atlantic.
